Shedding Playground with shy*play

Guided session for shy*play’s workshop series ‘for the listen to live here.’ Continuing the exploration of neuroqueering approaches to sociality, this session took the form of a playground for slowness, hybridity, and togethering. Happening simultaneously online and offsite, it was inspired by the wisdom of snakes and creatures who shed their skin and Disabled wisdom of virtual togetherness.
Whether online or in person, participants were invited to create their own adventure: through in-space facilitation at If I Can’t Dance and through a beautiful virtual world created by Hazelwood’s friends at Garden, a 24/7 virtual community center designed for BIPOC folks who are practicing pandemic safety. With one foot online and one offline, they slow-danced with snakes, played with reptile time, and watched and/or listened to a collection of readings, recordings, and songs curated by Kai Hazelwood over the last few years in part as a Research Fellow at DAS Graduate School.
